Some things you may want to know...
Where does the name Delicious Dishings come from?
I consider it a little play on words between dishing -- talking -- and dishes -- food!
What is the mission of Delicious Dishings?
Delicious Dishings is where I share my thoughts on food, cooking, and baking -- whether new recipes I've tried, restaurants I've been to, or new techniques or skills I'm working on in the kitchen. Along with trying to find delicious new recipes and improving my cooking and baking, I also use this blog as a place to improve my food writing and recipe testing skills.
Why are some recipes posted but not others?
Having a publishing background, I care very much about copyright. With recipes, there's a complicated line. Ingredients do not fall under copyright; however, methods do. That said, I will re-post or link to recipes that are readily available on the Web. If a site, such as Cook's Illustrated's, requires a subscription to see a recipe or a recipe comes from a cookbook, unless I've significantly changed the recipe or rewritten it in my own words, I won't re-post it. I will always let you know where you can find a recipe I have used. And I always provide attribution.
Are there product and restaurant reviews on Delicious Dishings?
I do review products. Whenever I receive something for free, I disclose that information and I do not let how I received a product influence my opinion of it. If I really do not like something, I most likely will not write about it as opposed to saying something negative. I especially enjoy reviewing cookbooks since I use so many of them!
I'm doing more restaurant reviews these days, and rest assured that I will always let you know if the review is based on a single visit or a blogger event rather than regular dining at a particular place.
You will always find full disclosure on Delicious Dishings because I want you, my readers, to be able to trust me.
